Certifications

Certifications

LUMIN endorses third-party certification for its forestry practices, focusing on two sets of standards: one for environmental management systems and another for sustainable forest management practices.

We manage our operations in accordance with the internationally accepted ISO 14001 standard for environmental management.

Responsible forest management

Our forest management aims to continuously improve management policies and practices, striking a balance between conserving natural, heritage, and sociocultural resources, optimizing productivity (technical, economic, and financial), and enhancing social well-being.

We have developed a Forest Management Plan to assess both current and future environmental impacts of our activities, products, and services.

Biodiversity and Natural Areas

We employ the best forestry practices for comprehensive biodiversity management, prioritizing the preservation of natural resources, ecosystems, flora, and fauna.

Regular studies and monitoring assess the conservation status of priority sites, allowing us to detect changes throughout the forest cultivation cycle and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

We collaborate with public and private institutions and expert technicians to deepen our understanding of ecosystem interactions with forest production.

The following video shows part of the monitoring management that LUMIN carries out:

Under the forest certification process, different environments are identified and classified based on the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Network of Conservation Areas. These include conservation zones, protection areas, connectivity corridors, representative sample areas, and areas of high conservation value (AAVC).

Areas identified as having high conservation value (AAVC) are managed and monitored through specific plans that identify key attributes and threats. These plans outline management measures aimed at maintaining or enhancing these attributes.

In addition to AAVC areas, sites with historical or cultural significance within LUMIN are also included in a conservation plan and recognized as part of LUMIN's heritage.
