Leadership in Safety
Since LUMIN® began operations in Uruguay in 1996, it has been publicly recognised as a leader in safe operations by instilling mandatory work standards to create a safe work environment.
Thousands of employees and contractors have received safety and accident prevention training and we also host safety workshops for other companies (public and private) who are interested in improving their safety practices.
Prevention Principles
These 10 safety rules are the fundamental principles that apply to the entire company with the aim of avoiding accidents and protecting the health and wellbeing of all staff, contractors and visitors to our facilities.

01 Hazardous Energies
Review all energy sources, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal and verify that they are under control.

02 Working at height
All work at height must be carried out inline with the relevant regulations and requires the necessary PPE.

03 Confined Spaces
Only enter if authorized, after assessing the risks, verifying the conditions of the area, and ensuring proper ventilation.

04 Equipment / Vehicles
Only operate equipment you are authorized and trained to use. Ensure it undergoes regular inspections.

05 Electrical Safety
Only authorized personnel with the appropriate tools can work on electrical installations.

06 Repetitive Tasks
Perform stretching exercises before, during and at the end of the day.

07 Chemicals
Familiarize yourself with the safety data sheet, understand chemical handling procedures, know the emergency protocols, and manage waste correctly.

08 Emergencies
Know the process for emergencies, escape routes and important telephone numbers.

09 Personal Protective Equipment
Use the correct PPE for the task being carried out.

10 Health Care
Participate in regular health checks and follow the appropriate recommendations to maintain good health.

1 Recognize & Analyze
Before beginning any activity, assess all potential hazards. If you encounter unexpected or unacceptable risks, immediately halt work and consult with a supervisor for further guidance.

2 Blocking, Signaling and Test
Block dangerous energy sources present in the equipment before entering.

3 Inspection
Inspect tools and equipment before using them and ensure you are authorized to use them.

4 Risk analysis
Carry out a risk assesment before performing a task.

5 Report
Report any unsafe situation or action, and intervene to avoid accidents.

6 Physical and Mental health
Ensure you are fit for work, both mentally and physically. This impacts your own safety and the safety of others.

7 Prioritise wellness
Perform stretching exercises if required before starting activities, and active pauses during breaks.

8 Protection / environment
Commit to protecting the environment and conserving natural resources.

9 Training
Always work safely and ensure you are up to date with the latest training requirements.

You are responsible for your safety and are required to pay attention to the safety of your colleagues.
